Red Light Holland subsidiary Filament Health will supply its naturally derived psilocybin drug candidate, PEX010, for a new clinical trial in the Netherlands investigating psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy for military veterans living with treatment-resistant post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
The agreement with ARQ National Psychotrauma Centre will support a pilot feasibility study titled Psilocybin-Assisted Psychotherapy in Military Veterans Living with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, which aims to assess the safety, tolerability and preliminary efficacy of psilocybin-assisted therapy in veterans who have not responded adequately to existing treatments.
The study adds to a growing body of international clinical research examining whether psychedelic-assisted therapies can improve outcomes for people living with chronic PTSD, an area where current treatment options remain limited for many patients.
Expanding Clinical Research into Veteran PTSD
Military veterans are disproportionately affected by PTSD, with many continuing to experience persistent symptoms despite antidepressant medication and trauma-focused psychotherapy.
ARQ National Psychotrauma Centre, based in Diemen in the Netherlands, is one of Europe’s leading institutions specialising in the treatment and research of complex psychological trauma. Through its specialist treatment centre, ARQ Centrum ’45, the organisation has extensive experience supporting military veterans, refugees and survivors of war, conflict and violence.
The pilot trial will evaluate whether psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy can be delivered safely within this patient population while generating preliminary data to inform larger clinical studies.
Filament Continues to Expand Global Research Supply
Filament Health, which was acquired by Red Light Holland in 2025, has established itself as one of the sector’s leading suppliers of GMP-grade naturally derived psychedelic drug candidates for clinical research.
Its lead investigational product, PEX010, is a standardised botanical psilocybin formulation manufactured from natural mushroom biomass under pharmaceutical-quality manufacturing standards. The drug candidate is currently being used in more than 80 academic and clinical studies globally, supporting research across a range of psychiatric and neurological conditions including alcohol use disorder, palliative care, bipolar II depression and other mental health disorders.
The company’s focus on pharmaceutical-grade naturally derived psilocybin provides researchers with a standardised botanical formulation suitable for regulated clinical trials.
Strengthening Red Light Holland’s Medical Strategy
Although Red Light Holland is best known for its recreational truffle business in Europe, its acquisition of Filament Health marked a significant expansion into pharmaceutical development and clinical research.
Rather than developing therapies directly, Filament has increasingly positioned itself as a supplier of GMP-grade psychedelic drug candidates to universities, hospitals and research organisations conducting regulated clinical studies around the world.
The agreement with ARQ National Psychotrauma Centre further expands Red Light Holland’s presence within the medical psychedelic sector as researchers continue investigating psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy for conditions with significant unmet clinical need, including treatment-resistant PTSD.
