Emyria (ASX: EMD) is preparing to open its first Sydney clinic in September, with the company saying key operational milestones have now been completed ahead of launch.
The clinic at Matilda Nepean Private Hospital in Kingswood will give Emyria its first presence in New South Wales and expand its clinical network into Australia’s most populous state.
Emyria said the clinic fit-out is complete, with four dedicated treatment rooms furnished and equipped ahead of the planned opening.
The company has also recruited and trained around 20 Sydney-based therapists and four psychiatrists. Two of the Sydney psychiatrists have obtained Authorised Prescriber status, supporting Emyria’s ability to commence treatments once the clinic opens.
Hospital, pharmacy and medication supply arrangements have also been secured, including a formal agreement with Matilda Nepean Private Hospital.
First patients approved for treatment
Emyria said the first patients have already been approved for treatment through the workers compensation pathway and are expected to begin treatment shortly after the clinic opens.
The company has not disclosed how many patients have been approved.
The Sydney clinic will add to Emyria’s existing clinical operations across Queensland, Victoria and Western Australia, expanding the company’s access to patients in another major Australian healthcare market.
Expanding access to emerging mental health treatments
Emyria describes its clinical model as focused on evidence-based intensive mental health care, including emerging therapies such as psychedelic-assisted therapy.
The company’s current work includes assisted therapy programs for conditions including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and treatment-resistant depression.
Its broader model combines direct clinical services with real-world data collection and treatment development. Emyria says data gathered through its clinical operations informs its drug and therapy development programs.
The company is now approaching the Sydney launch with the main operational components already in place, including the clinical team, treatment facilities, Authorised Prescribers and medication and healthcare partnerships.
With the clinic expected to open in September, the Sydney site will become Emyria’s first NSW operation and another component of its growing national clinical network.
