Australian pharmaceutical and psychedelic medicines company Bioxyne has announced the appointment of experienced investor and business executive Edward Myer as an Independent Non-Executive Director, adding further governance and strategic investment expertise to its board as the company pursues its next phase of growth.
Mr Myer will also assume the role of independent Chair of Bioxyne’s Audit and Finance Committee, providing oversight of financial governance, risk management, and shareholder accountability.
The appointment comes as Bioxyne continues to expand its operations across pharmaceutical manufacturing, medicinal cannabis, and emerging psychedelic therapies through its wholly owned subsidiary, Breathe Life Sciences.
Bioxyne Chairman Tony Ho said the company was pleased to welcome Mr Myer to the board at a pivotal point in the organisation’s development.
“We are very pleased to welcome Ed to the Bioxyne Board. Ed brings extensive experience across financial markets, technology, healthcare and strategic investment, together with a strong track record of identifying and backing high-quality growth businesses.”
Mr Myer brings more than a decade of experience working across investment markets, private capital structures, and corporate governance. Through his involvement with MWP Partners and various private investment initiatives, he has worked closely with management teams and shareholders to support businesses navigating growth, operational transformation, and strategic expansion.
His background includes extensive engagement with investment banks and capital markets participants across Australia, Hong Kong, and the United Kingdom, providing a global perspective on funding, governance, and business development.
The appointment also strengthens the independence of Bioxyne’s board committees, particularly the Audit and Finance Committee and the Remuneration Committee, as the company continues to mature its governance framework in line with its expanding international operations.
Mr Myer holds a Bachelor of Business from Monash University, a Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance from Macquarie University, and is a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
The appointment takes effect immediately, subject to completion of standard regulatory and governance requirements. In accordance with ASX listing rules, shareholders will be asked to formally elect Mr Myer at the company’s next Annual General Meeting.
Expanding Presence in Psychedelic Medicines
The appointment comes as Bioxyne continues to build its position within the emerging psychedelic medicines sector through Breathe Life Sciences, one of Australia’s few GMP-licensed manufacturers authorised to handle controlled substances including psilocybin and MDMA.
Breathe Life Sciences operates across Australia, the United Kingdom, Europe, and Japan, with capabilities spanning manufacturing, import and export, wholesale distribution, research and development, and the production of final-dose pharmaceutical products.
The company has become a significant participant in Australia’s regulated psychedelic medicines market, supplying products and services across medicinal cannabis, investigational therapies, and emerging mental health treatment pathways.
As Australia’s psychedelic treatment sector continues to evolve following regulatory changes permitting authorised psychiatric prescribing of MDMA and psilocybin therapies, Bioxyne’s investment in governance, manufacturing capacity and international distribution positions the company to participate in what many industry observers view as a potentially significant growth market over the coming decade.
The addition of Edward Myer reflects a broader trend among Australian life sciences companies seeking to strengthen board expertise and governance structures as they transition from early-stage development into larger-scale commercial operations.
